My granddaughter Kalyn asked me to write her a story because she was not old enough yet to read my books. I asked her what kind of story she wanted, and she said she wanted a mystery about something like her school disappearing and having to figure out why, or perhaps a different dimension.
So, with that in mind, I began writing without really any clue to where I was heading with the plot. After a few pages, I deleted it all and started over because an idea hit me that fit what I felt she was after. It took me about three weeks to write the fifty page story built around a single event and its consequences. As the main character, Kalyn, and her two friends try to unravel this mystery, they learn lessons along the way.
The story is creative in how it flows through this mystery while also providing thought provoking lessons around patience, tolerance, and keepings one's emotion from controlling one's actions. The manuscript is now in the hands of my art designer who is creating the artwork for the cover and the start of each chapter. Soon, Kalyn's Mysterious Day will be ready to present to her to read.
Bob, author of children's stories, who would have thought...:)
I already have an idea for Kalyn's next mystery adventure.
